“I don’t think the old rules apply to a lot of aspects of the campaign,” says veteran columnist Mike Barnicle on MSNBC’s Morning Joe during a conversation about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s run for the White House without traditional ad spending, field offices and polling. “I do think you can run sort of a guerrilla campaign – even as a national candidate. You can feed off other people’s polls – news media polls. You can feed off of getting free TV (time).
